Needlework
Guild member since 2025
Born and raised in the village of Dombegyhaz, Hungary, I obtained a degree in Foreign Trade services and Industrial Engineering in Szeged Hungary that lead me to Equatorial Guinea where I met my husband Barry Crits and found a new home in Oktibbeha County, just outside of Starkville. Where we live, create art and raise our family.
I was introduced to needle work at the age of four. I studied along with my sister with Dr. Illes Karolyne Botyanszky Anna, the preeminent authority on Hungarian needle work. The primary focus of my needle work is Bekes County Embroidery. I take the patterns and associated colors that have been documented and incorporate them as accents on the table cloths and other items. Many other Hungarian embroidery and needlework traditions are also used in my work. Some techniques originate for a single village. Keeping these traditions alive verses relegating them to historical archive is very important to me
