A Scenic Trail

The Natchez Trace Parkway appeals to travelers from near and far who share an appreciation for the great outdoors. Managed by the National Parks Service, it spans 444 miles from Mississippi to Tennessee. Along the scenic trail, the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi proudly stands as a destination for handmade crafts, historical information, tourist accommodations, and more.

Visitor Information

The Waller Craft Center, located just off the Natchez Trace at Milepost 104.5, is home to the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi. In the Craft Center, travelers may learn about the history of craft in the state, visit the permanent collection, and shop for handmade items in the gallery shop. There are also a series of walking trails and outdoor spaces to explore just outside the Craft Center patio. Explore the Craftsmen’s Guild and see the beauty of Mississippi firsthand.

Long before “creative economy” and “cultural tourism,” Governor William Waller theorized that organizing and fostering Mississippi’s craft artisans would benefit the state’s economy, image, and tourism.

In 1973, Governor Waller put into motion what would become the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi, and ever since, the Guild has been proving him right.
