Diana M. Carey-Smith

My mother taught me to sew and make clothes when I was ten years old. After my first year of hight school I took a formal dressmaking class where I took on more challenging sewing skills and also were I fell in love with quilting. I was mentored by my Aunt Ceree Bowden, a Georgia Master Quilter, who had a quilt hanging for many years in the President Carter Museum. She and my mother inspired me and as I looked forward to showing them my progress. I owe a lot to both them and miss them very much. One day I had the idea to publish my designs. I created a coloring book for quilters filled with patters and instructions. They could pick their colors and follow the guide to create their quilts. My book represents the first step in trying new things like Hawaiian quilting, pine burr quilts, appliqué and art renditions.
